Dual Texture climbing holds combine grippy and smooth surfaces within a single hold. The different surfaces are specifically used to define the usable gripping areas and limit the gripping possibilities.
The smooth areas are significantly more difficult to grip and, depending on the position and movements, can be used hardly at all or only with considerably greater difficulty. This encourages the climber to use the hold as intended by the route setting.
Dual Texture makes it possible to design movements more precisely, to specify certain grip positions and to influence the difficulty level of a bouldering problem in a targeted manner.
